There is a shortcut from Jalan Ma’mor to Toa Payoh

There is a shortcut from Jalan Ma’mor to Toa Payoh

You can get to Toa Payoh by foot, despite having no ways to drive straight across. It is in fact cumbersome if you want to drive to the temple across the expressway. See below blue line.

There is staircase (or a overhead bridge) at Jalan Ma’mor which leads to the neighbourhood of Toa Payoh.

You’ll have to get across the huge Pan Island Expressway.

Above: You’ll see this overhead bridge when you get to the top of the staircase.

Above: To the right, you’ll see this remotely quiet place. JTC flatted factories in the background.

Above: To the left, another stretch of of remoteness. Oh my.

Above: Jalan Tenteram flats. A cluster of rather new HDB flats at the corner of the same neighbourhood.

See the map above, we’re at Point A. Safra Toa Payoh and Shuang Lin Temple are easily of walkable distance at about 300m. Now I can walk to Shuang Lin Temple!

    Hi Gigi

Next time I’ll walk to the temple with you… If you don’t mind :P

The one along the roadside, is it the baba uncle house? The Baba uncle wanted at 560k, I’ve ask Linus to buy it but he’s still considering.

  • Linus says:

    Hahaha… Sshhhhh….

  • Pamela says:

    harlow everyone!!

    Gigi/ Jeanario/ Linus : -
I’m moving in and just bought a unit over there.
    Not the baba uncle house.
    We will be neighbours soon!

Quite excited to move into a neighbourhood filled with young couples.

Hope to make frens with you all! =)

    Merry Xmas,
    Pam & Edric

Dear Pamela! Welcome to the neighbourhood :) I’ve got your email and am excited to see more and more young couples move in too! Remember to get a quote from Christina as she is our friendly neighbourhood contractor!

Tips – you can pass the qns to me cos Chuck’s usually the one answering them :) Really excited for you! Everyone who has viewed the units here go by “Love at First Sight” and that was applicable for us too! When would your first appointment be?

Linus – please buy the Baba uncle’s House!

    Hi gigi,

    Happy New Year!
Spent the entire weekend searching for contractors / furniture.. haha!
    this is quite fun!

Our 1st appt is 29th Jan.. maybe get the keys in end Mar hopefully?
Do u all play mj?? if yes.. haha.. i can be one of the kaki!

Can u pass me Christina’s contacts?
Not many IDs / contractors heard of Jalan Bahagia… find it quite difficult to converse with them and expressing our ideas for the house.
Do not want them to think that it is landed as well… we are definitely not ‘BIG fishes’ for them!

    Cheers!

  • gigi says:

Hi Pamela! Happy New Year to you too :) 29th Jan is very soon!

Mahjong, yes! Let’s play together! :)

Yeah it’s true, some of them are really not familiar with the rules and regulations and you may sometimes end up going through more hassle because some things are not approved for eg and end up paying more. Get Christina, she’s been working on this estate for the longest time and is on very good terms with the HDB people who’s in charge on this area. Have emailed you her contact!

  • Pamela says:

so excited!!! shall see u soon!
    yes yes.. mj!!!!!! =p

We did not use Christina though I will agree with recommendations about using her (i.e. her HUGE experience in this estate). We feel our ID did a pretty decent job too so if you need Plan B/alternatives, try http://www.designrebirth.sg/portfolio-kimkeat.html. You are most welcomed to visit our place to view his work.
Another unit used a contractor from Bishan and I thought it was nice too (from what I see from outside peering in).

    Hi Lin’s other half,

can i know what is ur unit and the contractor’s contacts?
if u dun mind, we can go take a look? =)
i have frens interested in this area as well.
Can help to market your place out.
Let me know the price that you are asking for.

we are thinking of directly contacting all the sub-contractors.
hopefully this can drive the costs down…

quite abit of reno needs to be done and we are working on a very tight budget.
