Bread.

Bread. Today, I got bored of the usual peanut butter with jam slabs on white bread and decided to venture into a more adventurous sandwich-making activity.

Grilled cheese and ham Sandwich. Seafood Mayo Sandwich.

I did what the restaurants do – cut off the outer crust after grilling – to make them look visually more appealing, but I think it’s kinda of wasting food here (although the choice’s personal here). So, the crust goes back on the next time.

Also, if you notice, there is a slight yellowish patch on one side of a piece in the upper left picture. Oh well, that is Butter. It didn’t go soft in time for me to do a nice spread on the outer layer, so I just scrapped whatever is good enough to go on that. *lazy*

The grilled ham and cheddar cheese sandwich tasted great! Though I wish I had firmer bread instead of thin white NTUC bread, which wouldn’t really hold the moisture that’s coming out from the tomatoes, lettuce or spread if I were to pack them into a bento. Not sure if whole grain is firmer but I’ll try this and or toast the white bread a while longer.

Maybe some other fanciful (and healthier) breads – bagel. rye. wholewheat. Because I know white bread is a convenience food made from refined bleached white flour, and bleaching causes it to lose most of its nutrients and fibre.

    Dear,

Your sandwiches looks so yummy!!! Its great to see you trying out so many stuff in your new nest….. heheh. Isn’t chuck a lucky lucky man?

I indulged myself a bit (but still quite stingy) by buying this foccacia bread sometimes when i feel like making “gourmet sandwich”. I can’t remember the brand name but its green & red packaging that’s sold in supermarkets. A regular brand but I just can’t remember. I think it cost $2.20 per pack. Toast it a little. It taste great with all the ingredients you have up here and can hold all the stuffing well too. The only thing about it is, it can probably cut up to 4 servings but thats 2 days of gourmet sandwich for you and chuck leh…heheeh

Babe! I went to Cold Storage and saw the foccacia today. Big fat ones which will really make good gourmet sandwiches :) Ok will try out next time.
