Catch the Beever at City Hall

Julian Beever’s impression of Singapore’s skyline. And well, Nokia buildings. Obviously adding to the already very big publicity campaign of N95.

I read that Julian Beever’s anamorphic* illusional drawings will be done by this coming Thursday. When I got to Raffles City Shopping Centre on the side facing Capitol Building today, there wasn’t any drawing in progress. Just a big tentage with a guy mending the covered space, with what seemed like almost a completed 3D drawing by Beever. What a disappointment I thought I can catch him in person. There were of course, many other passers-by who were drawn to the space out of curiosity.

*Anamorphic illusions drawn in a special distortion in order to create an impression of 3 dimensions when seen from one particular viewpoint.

Julian Beever has made pavement drawings for over ten years. The pavement drawings have included both renderings of old masters plus a wealth of original inventive pieces of work. See his masterpieces here.

Not very inspired by the one he has done in Singapore. Perhaps when I’m walking down the streets of Paris I may see some of his other works.

Self-Portrait Of The Artist With Liquid Refreshment. I like this one. It reflects on him.

Batman and Robin to the rescue. Eye-catching drawing. Be sure to avoid the space in case you fall 3 storeys down.

Check out the Coke bottle! Cute.
