I’m a Tarsier You’re a Clouded Leopard
19th Aug A trip to the Night Safari
The Night Safari has been one of the places we both will love to visit, just to spend some quality time together under the starry night with the nocturnal animals. Of course it doesn’t really sound like the most romantic date as half the time was spent looking out for the creatures in their enclosures (and most of the time they’re hidden away), but it is definitely more enjoyable than sweating ourselves out under the hot sun in the Zoo.

The tribal show was going on when we reached the Night Safari entrance, people were blowing out balls of fire, or so I thought.

Proceeded with a 1-for-1 buffet dinner at Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant. Unremarkable with its limited variety (and lousy quality) of food servings but would give thumbs-up for its delicious chicken tikka.

Cozy kampung-styled interior
and I was marveled at how they got so many of those antique biscuit tins for display.

I’m a tarsier! And you’re a Clouded Leopard!
And then we were at this very interesting animal show – Creatures of the Night.

It was very dark and I couldn’t capture anything except for the audiences nearby. For our very own eyes, we’ve got the binturangs on the ropes, some howling wolves, a giant snake on a terrified Australian teacher, otters doing their recycling stuff…

Ah ok, at least I’ve got the signboard “Creatures of the Night” at the show entrance. Thanks to the “enormous candle” beside it.
We walked on cat trails, knocked on thick glass panels of enclosures hoping to catch the nonchalant leopards’ attention, whistled at porcupines from the fence – it was all fun! However, there came an animal exhibit which I admit I’m totally afraid of.
The Bats. Enclosure.

If you can spot a pair of shiny eyes. Right there.
There is no barrier between us and the bats. We walked right through their living habitat and feel the slight sudden breezes on the skin as they flapped their wings past me. Eeerie…~!

And so we ended the night with a fake zebra (anytime for that) and a classic “Night Safari” shot.
