Why you Need an iRobot for your Home
We T-loaned the iRobot Roomba 4230 series from our iRobot-expert friends (Joe & Rose) and here goes our first funny experience with the new pet!
Convinced (as ever) to get one for ourselves, here are the some of the wonderful features of a iRobot (4 or 5 series).
Why you need an iRobot for your Home?
- Efficiently vacuums dirt, debris, pet hair, dust, allergens and more from carpets and hard floors
- Counter rotating Bristle Brush and Beater Brush work together like a dustpan and broom
- Sturdy Bristle Brush digs deep into carpet fibers to grab dirt, debris, pet hair and more (though it can’t work on my thick carpet in the living room)
- Powerful vacuum sucks large and small debris into the large, bag-less bin
- Fine filter traps dust, pollen and tiny particulate inside the bin
- Cleans the whole floor, under and around furniture, into corners and along wall edges
- Detects dirtier areas and spends more time cleaning them
- Spot Clean provides quick clean-up of spills and concentrated messes
- Automatically senses and avoids stairs and other drop-offs
- Simple operation—just press the Clean button and Roomba does the rest
- Automatically returns to its self-charging Home Base® to dock and recharge between
- Both of you are working and the part time maid comes only once in a fortnight!
Where do I look for more information on the iRobot?
- Visit their official website at http://store.irobot.com/home/index.jsp and determine which model is suitable for your cleaning needs.
- Check out the prices & reviews at some marketplace or trusted stores, including Buy.com, Amazon, Target.com.
- Wait for the right offer from woot.com. (Recommended by Singaporeans) Woot.com is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap, one product a day.
- Lurk around ebay if you are fine with refurbished sets or used sets (oh you need to be quite savvy too)
- Read up more on the maintenance and knick-knacks of this vacuum cleaner, head over to this active local thread over at Hardwarezone (warning: 400 pages of information).
How do I get the iRobot from the US and get it localized?
Getting it from the US and having it shipped back to Singapore can get as technical as its set up and maintenance. Once I get my hands on it, I shall share with all the process. Stay tuned!

Gigi, that’s a good article about iRobot. We can run an iRobot maid service when we move in
yep, and a service centre!
